Mount Kailash – A Mysterious Secret

Let us talk today about a mountain that has existed for thousands of years, yet no human being has ever reached its summit. This is Mount Kailash—a strange and enigmatic mountain located in the icy border region of Tibet and China, revered as sacred by many ancient civilizations and religions around the world.

Mount Kailash has the shape of a great pyramid, as if someone intentionally carved it with precision.

This mountain is not part of any mountain range, and no mountaineer has ever climbed it. It is considered so sacred that followers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and the ancient Bon religion believe it is not just a mountain, but a profound mystery.

Near Mount Kailash lie two lakes:

One is Manasarovar—a pristine freshwater lake,
and the other is Rakshastal—a salty lake, regarded as a symbol of inauspiciousness.

Just think! Two lakes at the same location—one considered blessed, the other cursed. Isn’t that astonishing?

Another strange fact about Mount Kailash is that four major rivers of Asia originate from here: the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali. These rivers flow in different directions, as if the mountain truly is a spiritual center and nourisher of life.

Every year, thousands of pilgrims visit this site. But their aim is not to conquer the peak, rather to circumambulate it, a ritual called “Kora.” One complete round around the mountain is about 52 kilometers long. Some devotees are so passionate that they perform a full-body prostration at each step—lying flat on the ground, then standing up and taking one step forward. This process can take several weeks.

Pilgrims report that even time behaves strangely here. Some claim their watches stopped, or their hair started growing at an unusual speed. Some have seen strange visions in dreams.

Mount Kailash is not just a mountain—it is a world full of mysteries. A place where the earth, sky, water, time, and human existence all feel different. And perhaps that is why no one has ever scaled its summit. In fact, climbing it is prohibited due to its religious sanctity.
