Imagine we create an intelligent robot and tell it: make as many paperclips 🧷 as possible. Now, if that robot becomes superintelligent 🤯, it might devote all its abilities to just that goal. It could melt the Earth 🌍, humans 👤, oceans 🌊, and mountains ⛰️—turning everything into paperclips 🔥🧷.

This isn’t a sci-fi story 🎬❌, but a serious thought experiment by Oxford University professor Nick Bostrom 🧠📚, which he calls the Paperclip Maximizer. It means that if artificial intelligence is given a goal 🎯, but not taught ethical values 🚫⚖️, even a seemingly innocent goal can lead to catastrophe 💣💥.

His thought experiment reminds us that AI must be not only intelligent 🧠 but also aligned with human values ❤️🤝.
Otherwise, one day our very existence could fall victim to a misguided objective 😨🚨one that we ourselves created without thinking 🤷‍♂️💭🔁.
