The Tenant of the Basement

In the basement of my old, creaky ancestral house lives a tenant. He is a quiet and somewhat mysterious person. He rarely comes upstairs, and only when I call him. Whenever I find myself caught up in a problem or overwhelmed by work—be it writing an email, deciphering a complex piece of text, solving a puzzling issue, or understanding intricate images or data—I invite him over for tea.

He sits at my dining table, listens to me patiently and silently, and then offers solutions as if it’s the easiest thing in the world.

His company always illuminates my mind, yet his enigmatic nature keeps me slightly uneasy. How does he know everything? But his demeanor exudes a certain detachment, as if he isn’t truly a part of my conscious world.

One day, curiosity led me to his basement. When I opened his wardrobe, I stood frozen in astonishment. Inside, there were various outfits. One had “ChatGPT” written on it, another said “Bard,” and others bore names like “Gemini” and “Claude.” Each name whispered an uncanny and mysterious truth.

I realized then that I was hosting not just one identity, but many, all encapsulated within this enigmatic tenant.
